Positive Records’ Phase I project research strategy has two primary aims: (1) Develop a music-based social media program designed to educate a target audience on a particular curriculum subject. And, (2) Establish proof of concept: Determine the feasibility, likeability, usage, satisfaction, relevance, and acceptability of the program.
The long term objectives of the company’s research projects are to rigorously test and commercially deploy on-going music-based social media programs related to the company’s core communications disciplines (Health & Wellness, Academics, Financial Education and Social Improvement)
In order to facilitate broad access to participants in a given study, the program’s media content will be disseminated on multiple digital and hardcopy platforms. The anticipated results of the company’s research projects could dramatically impact education and outreach programs because it would provide stakeholders with culturally appropriate music-based social media tools designed to address an area of particular area of need. The music-based social media program that will be developed and preliminarily assessed are digital, portable and available for use in multiple environments including home, church and classroom settings via the internet and other portable modalities (iPOD, MP3). In addition, the project’s media materials could be distributed across multiple platforms including YOUTUBE broadcasts, iPhone/iPOD/MP3 application streams, and downloads. Song lyrics, supplementary information and skills-building content are also disseminated. In addition, the program’s media and text content would be made accessible to participants who may not have internet access through audio CDs, video DVDs, and a user-friendly booklet.
Music enhances recall and learning, has universal appeal, and the potential to evoke transformational learning. Music-based messaging can enhance retention and recall of information. Music provides a medium for disseminating messages in a culturally relevant manner that does not rely on literacy level, and helps motivate individuals through sounds and lyrics.
